Are these items genuine products from Dell?


Yes.  Dell builds these systems for Costco.ca customers upon receipt of orders from Costco.ca.  These are brand new (not refurbished) systems (unless otherwise stated) built specifically for Costco.ca customers and they come with all of the benefits of buying a new computer from Dell.

 

Why does it take so long for my order to ship?

 

Dell’s model is to build computers after they are ordered.  This helps Dell avoid excess inventory and helps Dell minimize its costs, which in turn keeps the prices of its systems low. 

 

Can I upgrade my shipping if I pay more?

 

Not at this time.  The systems offered on the Costco.ca site are preconfigured; this includes the shipping options on the systems.

 

Can I change or modify the configuration / components?

 

Not at this time.  However additional components may be purchased directly through Dell.ca.

 

How do I know if my order went through?

 

After you have verified all of your information click the "complete purchase" button. That's it!  You will receive an order confirmation from Costco.ca via e-mail immediately.  When your order ships you will receive another e-mail confirming the actual shipping date.  The e-mail will include instructions on how you can track the shipment of your order online.

 

Upon delivery of my new computer, will I need to be present to sign for it?

 

Because of the high dollar of your order, someone must be present to sign for the delivery.

 

Does this system come with a warranty?


Yes, all Dell systems come with a limited warranty and a service contract. Purchasing your system through Costco.ca gives you access to the same great service that other Dell owners experience.  Please see the item description for the warranty duration and for more information on each system’s warranty and the applicable service policy.

 

Limited Warranties and Return Policy

 

Dell-branded hardware products purchased in the U.S. or Canada come with a 90-day, 1-year, 2-year, 3-year or 4-year limited warranty, depending on the product purchased.  To determine which warranty comes with your hardware product(s), see your packing slip or invoice.

 

Can I buy an extended warranty from Costco.ca?

 

Not at this time.

 

What is covered by the limited warranty?

 

Dell’s limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship in Dell-branded hardware products, including Dell-branded peripheral products.

 

What is not covered by this limited warranty?

 

This limited warranty does not cover:

 

  • Software, including the operating system and software added to the Dell-branded hardware products through our factory-integration system, third-party software, or the reloading of software
  • Non-Dell branded and Solution Provider Direct products and accessories

 

Problems that result from:

 

  • External causes such as accident, abuse, misuse, or problems with electrical power
  • Servicing not authorized by Dell
  • Usage that is not in accordance with product instructions
  • Failure to follow the product instructions or failure to perform preventive maintenance
  • Problems caused by using accessories, parts, or components not supplied by Dell
  • Products with missing or altered Service Tags or serial numbers
  • Products for which Dell has not received payment

 

How long does this limited warranty last?

 

This limited warranty lasts for the time period indicated on your packing slip or invoice, except for the following Dell-branded hardware:

 

  • Portable computer batteries and AC adapters carry the lesser of either a 1-year limited warranty or the length of the limited warranty for the Dell computer with which the battery or AC adapter, as applicable, is shipped.
  • Projector lamps carry a 90-day limited warranty.
  • Memory carries a lifetime limited warranty.
  • Monitors carry the longer of either a 3-year limited warranty or the remainder of the warranty for the Dell computer to which the monitor will be connected.
  • PDAs, earphones, and remote inline controls carry a 1-year limited warranty.
  • Other add-on hardware carries the longer of either a 1-year limited warranty for new parts or a 90-day limited warranty for reconditioned parts or, for both new and reconditioned parts, the remainder of the warranty for the Dell computer on which such parts are installed.

 

The limited warranty on all Dell-branded products begins on the date of the packing slip or invoice. The warranty period is not extended if Dell repairs or replaces a warranted product or any parts. Dell may change the availability of limited warranties, at its discretion, but any changes will not be retroactive.

 

What do I do if I need warranty service?

 

Before the warranty expires, please call Dell Customer Service at 1-800-847-4096.  Please also have your Dell Service Tag or order number available.

 

How does Dell fix its products?

 

Dell uses new and refurbished parts made by various manufacturers in performing warranty repairs and in building replacement parts and systems.  Refurbished parts and systems are parts or systems that have been returned to Dell, some of which were never used by a customer.  All parts and systems are inspected and tested for quality.  Replacement parts and systems are covered for the remaining period of the limited warranty for the product you bought.  Dell owns all parts removed from repaired products.

 

May I transfer the limited warranty?

 

Limited warranties on systems may be transferred if the current owner transfers ownership of the system and records the transfer with Dell. The limited warranty on Dell-branded memory may not be transferred.  You may record your transfer by going to Dell's Web site.  If you do not have Internet access, call your customer care representative or call 1-800-847-4096.

 

If I buy a Dell system from Costco.ca, will it come with all system restore and back-up CDs?


No it will not.  PC Restore recovery solution by Symantec® comes pre-installed on each of the Dell systems offered through Costco.ca.  Using Dell PC Restore, in about 10 minutes, your computer software can be restored to the same condition as it was when you first powered on your computer.

 

How do I return an item?

 

Costco.ca offers convenient returns at any one of our Costco warehouses worldwide. To expedite the return process, please have your order confirmation email with you.

 

If you are unable to return your order at one of our warehouses, please email service@costco.ca to arrange for a pickup.

 

Please note that the return policy for all notebook and desktop computers is 6 months, from the date of purchase. After that time, all services and technical support will be subject to the applicable remaining manufacturers' warranty.

 

Why am I being charged a non-member fee?

 

Shoppers that are not Costco Wholesale members will be charged a 5% surcharge over the member’s posted product prices. If you are not a member, we encourage you to join. As a Costco member, you may shop at any Costco Wholesale location worldwide, in addition to our website!
